Free Workshop Series!
Do you want to work on a show and learn more about stagecraft? Theatre CBS is offering this unique opportunity to learn all the ins and outs of stage craft - from set design and construction to lighting, sound, props (if you're crafty, you may have a future in props!), costumes and stage management. Our workshop participants will learn in the classroom setting, including opportunities to meet professionals working in the theatre industry, and hands on as the crew for Play On!

Adult Acting Workshop with Gord Billard
Held September, 2025
Explore foundational acting skills - physical awareness, vocal expression, emotional connection, collaboration, and character development - culminating in short scene or monologue presentations that apply the techniques you've learned.
Physical movement and vocal participation is required as are an open mind and a willingness to work together with other participants to present a short scene on a small stage to be viewed by the other participants.

Youth Acting Workshop
Designed for young, aspiring actors with some or no experience performing on stage, this 2.5 hour workshop was held June 14, 2025, for youth aged 10-13.
Join Susan Bonnell, director of the award-winning production Duckish (2025 Best Play, Provincial Drama Festival) for theatre games, voice and performance exercises, improvisation, and an introduction to character-building and storytelling. Susan has directed and written multiple children's shows, including Theatre CBS's recent production of A Christmas Story. She is also an experienced actor, having performed in numerous productions with Theatre CBS, St. John's Players, School Zone Productions and others, and was the winner of the Best Actress Award at the 2023 Drama Festival (Annie, Calendar Girls).
Please note: participants must have graduated from Grades 5, 6, 7 or 8 in June 2025.


So, You Think You Can Act?
March 7, 2022: This sold-out class with Gord Billard was a fun and interactive 3-hour workshop, designed for beginners with little or no recent acting experience. Theatre CBS will offer future workshops and acting classes for adults. Participants get the opportunity to try their hand at movement, improvisation and dialogue - the basic building blocks of performance!
