Puppet Magic

Tom Dawe's ghost and fairy stories have a magical quality. To bring some of those stories to the stage, we wanted to include the use of puppets, so our president Gord Billard reached out to his friend Baptiste Neis.

Baptiste is a puppet, theatre and film maker, and co-founder of Clever Crones. She did a workshop with our actors and has years of experience helping theatre companies use puppetry to bring characters to life.

Baptiste created The Sleeping Prince with Waterloo Chamber Players, co-created Kate Crackerberry with White Rooster Theatre and has The Bakers Daughter in development.  Recently Baptiste lead the puppets for the Terra Bruce show The Wild Rovers.  Live performances span White Rooster, Ladies of the CNR, Artistic Fraud, Caravan Stage Barge, 30for60, Rising Tide, and more. She trained with The Old Trout Puppet Workshop and holds a BFA from Concordia University. Baptiste served as vice chair of RCAT, President of the Nickel and a founding Director of Perchance.

For Duckish: The Ghost and Fairy Stories of Tom Dawe, Baptiste has created a soaring Raven and an intimidating dog from materials reflective of our illustrative set pieces.

Don't miss this story-based performance with puppet magic: March 20-23 at Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre. Tickets are available in advance at https://buytickets.at/theatrecbs.
